Publications

Two major urban reports were completed and submitted for publication this year.  The report on the major excavations undertaken by Adrian Cox at the Horse Cross, Perth, was finalised by the SUAT team and published in TAFAJ 13 in November.

Three sites in Linlithgow excavated by the late Doreen Hunter (1966), Cathy Brooks (1976) and David Caldwell and Geoffrey Stell (1979) but which had never been published, were dusted off, edited and new specialist reports commissioned from SUAT.  The resulting synthesis, funded by Historic Scotland, has now been submitted to SAIR (Scottish Archaeological Internet Reports) and is currently with referees.

Derek Hall’s role as assistant editor of TAFAJ saw TAFAC Monograph no 5, on the subject of the excavations of the Catherthun hillforts, as well as TAFAJ 13, published and launched at the 2007 conference in St Andrews.  SUAT also managed the publication of the Dunfermline Burgh Srvey for the local archaeological society, launched in Dunfermline in October.  Derek was also able to get the next volume of Medieval Ceramics ready for this year’s MPRG conference in York in June.  TAFAC Monograph no 6, on the excavations on the Isle of May, is destined for publication in the near future.
