Information Panels
Two bodies commissioned SUAT to design information panels. Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust requested a panel interpreting cup-marked stones at Moness, now installed at the site. St Magdalene’s Hill Steering Group asked SUAT to research and design interpretation panels on the archaeology and wildlife of this area of Perth.
Balgarthno Stone Circle, Dundee
On 21st June, a very blustery summer solstice, a group of figures was observed to gather in the playing field around the Balgarthno Stone Circle, on the outskirts of Dundee. The reason for their pilgrimage was the inauguration of the protective fencing and interpretation panel erected by Dundee City Council, with the help of Historic Scotland. SUAT’s involvement had been firstly to notify both bodies of the damage to this Bronze Age monument which was being caused by vandals setting fire to wheelie bins in the centre of the circle, and secondly to undertake a watching brief while the fencing was erected. It is now hoped that local people will be encouraged to keep a watchful eye on their own local ancient monument.
