The Roxburgh Project
Following the Time Team programme at Roxburgh in the summer of 2003, members of a steering committee have met to discuss ways of taking work on this important burgh forward. Derek Hall has been in written communication with the Time Team regarding their funding, at least in part, of some of the post-excavation work that still needs to be done on the pottery, finds and bone from the assessment.
A bid has also been put into next year’s Historic Scotland estimates for money to take forward further non-invasive work on the site (geophysics and field survey) and some re-excavation of at least one of the Time Team’s trenches. Discussions are also underway with Stirling University regarding a bid to the Arts and Heritage Research Board for a much larger project that may also involve links with Bradford University. Aside from any post-excavation work on pottery, bone or finds, Derek is ensuring that SUAT are recognised as being the main supplier of any field team that is required.
